This is some of the only 100% organic painting oil available anywhere.
Sun Thickened Oils can be used in a variety of ways:
- directly as an addition to oil paint
- as a basis for glazing mediums
- in mixed-technique emulsion formulas
- to "oil out" dried lower layers and paint into the wet oil
- as an isolation layer between coats, or as a pre-varnish
Notes on our Medium Viscosity Oil:
Thickened for over 3 months and aged 5 years, this is a luminous, medium-light oil that dries rapidly when added to oils or used in glazes. A dense golden syrup that still exhibits a lot of fluidity under the brush. Greatly reduces the need for resins in glazes. Facilitates seamless transitions and luminous veils in semi-transparent painting, deepens and enhances colors.
Notes on our Heat Bodied Oil:
This is a light, fluid and mobile oil that has been gently heated for many hours to impart the viscosity and working characteristics of a thicker sun oil. Light but dense at the same time, this oil almost feels as though there is a touch of resin in it already. This oil spent 2 months in the Colorado sun, and is a joy to paint with in alla prima approaches, or in early layers of glazing. It's practically a thin glazing medium in and of itself. A light amber colored oil, as is expected in heat bodied oils.
