Painting the Luminous Landscape 7 Days of Artistic Adventures in Wine Country with Margueritte Meier Aloria Weaver & David Heskin
For seven inspiring days, we will be dividing our time between outdoor oil painting and indoor studio sessions in and around Paso Robles, California.
We will paint from direct observation in a number of beautiful locations, creating our field studies amidst the gorgeous landscape of rolling hills, gnarled oak trees, vineyards and beaches of coastal California.
We’ll have daily studio sessions on the theory and practice of traditional oil painting techniques at our host venue, Shale Oak Winery in Paso Robles. www.ShaleOakWinery.com
There, we will bring the inspiration from our field studies into an "indirect", or layered oil painting that will be constructed from a synthesis of imagination and observation. Using time-tested techniques, an imaginal landscape will be constructed from the drawing phase, through the underpainting and overpainting stages, integrating the logical procedures of old master techniques into a personal means for expression.
Tuition includes 7 days of art instruction, plus multiple wine tours at some of the finest wineries in the region. In the last few days of the workshop, our best works from the week will be on display in the tasting room at Shale Oak Winery, as we’ll have the opportunity to share our inspiration with a wider community of art appreciators who are visiting the area. October is harvest season in Paso Robles, so there will be plenty of festivities happening at that time!
